On a weekly call with Roll Em Up - a brand I advise for - COO Sam Fonseca told the story of how orange chicken became the best-selling item at Panda Express.
Most don't know this, but Panda didn't start off with orange chicken (whuuuuut).
Not only that, it wasn't an instant hit (whuuuuut).
For the longest time, their staff had to stand outside and give away a ton of free samples, before people realized how damn good it was.
What we crave today (at a rate of 110 million pounds a year) was rooted in sheer will.
Entrepreneurs - remember:
✅ It's not about having a perfect product or service when you begin (it's just important that you start).
How you adapt, innovate, and find your brand voice AFTER you take action, will be the key. And
✅ If the product is brilliant enough, it won’t be easy (it’s not supposed to be); and you'll most likely have to shove it down people's throats.
So just start. And give it away.
It's always inspiring to hear stories about the struggles of successful businesses. Great article!
Great story! (And lesson!)
