Hey, Y’all! This is Part II of this story.
After I caught my wife cheating, I divorced her. Immediately.
I’m glad I didn’t teeter-totter with this, and knew my nonnegotiable walk-away point.
🎓🎓 LESSONS LEARNED 🎓🎓
🔓🔓 FALSE SECURITY 🔓🔓
When I depend on people’s approval, my own (limited) intelligence, my (limited) work ethic, and other things that change with the wind...I’ll never be happy.
But when I depend on God more than anything, and I serve an audience of One...I am closer to finding my truth.
🫀🫀 HEALTH > WEALTH 💰💰
People spend all of their health to acquire wealth.
Only to later spend all of their wealth trying to recapture their health.
What a stupid-ass hamster wheel.
📍📍PRINCIPLES > GOALS 📍📍
I now interrogate every goal and opportunity with these questions:
🤔 Does it spark joy in me?
🤔 Does it serve others?
🤔 Does it honor my relationships?
If so, I take one step and leave margin for:
1️⃣ Opportunities I could’ve never expected
2️⃣ The ability to change my mind if I get new and better information.
I also expanded “true wealth” to include:
✅ Meaningful work
✅ Deep relationships
✅ Good health
✅ Freedom
🔂 🔂 I DON'T LET MY PAST FUCK WITH MY FUTURE 🔂🔂
Past relationships, investments, events, and stories teach valuable lessons, but they are in the rear-view mirror of my life.
I use it to back out of wrong directions...
But nobody uses it to drive ahead.
↗️↗️ FAST-FORWARD TODAY ↗️↗️
I married the love of my life for 10 years.
Remember how I wanted to be a young dad, in the previous issue?
I achieved this outside of my plans (my wife had two kids from a previous marriage).
I own 9 restaurants that do $15M+/year; advise and invest in business; and tinker in all sorts of projects (including writing a book - I’d love it if you’d join the journey at www.lfglaunch.com).
So yes, I’m still a workaholic lol!
But I come home for dinner.
I attend all of my kids’ sports activities. I take my wife on regular dates. I moved my office across from home. I take my family to wherever I travel for work when I can.
I’m prioritizing sleep, eating better, and exercising more.
🎁🎁 WRAP-UP 🎁🎁
My life did fall apart. But it was needed for something better to come together.
Do you have any past hurts that have made you better?
Reply and share; I wanna hear about it!
Amazing man! You seem like you do a ton but learn to balance it all! I hope to get on that level one day!
It takes a lot to be able to talk about your past out in the open for everyone to see. Great job writing these two parts! Still would love to hear about the 10 years you skipped after meeting your wife. There's a lot of stories to be told there I'm sure
